The Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at the Galveston campus. The Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science awarded at the Galveston campus is the same computer science degree as the one offered at the College Station campus. The academic benefits of studying Computer Science at the Galveston campus are small classroom sizes (less than 60 students), opportunities to minor in or take concentration area classes in unique ocean-oriented sciences offered at Galveston campus, opportunities to take classes on one of Texas A&M at Galveston’s sea vessels, and access to full College Station campus resources.

The Division of Foundational Sciences offers Minors in both Chemistry and Mathematics, and courses in chemistry, physics, mathematics, and statistics. Many of the courses are required for first and second year students majoring in Marine Biology or Marine Sciences. Our staff believe in challenging our students in order to better prepare them for what lies ahead. By providing a strong scientific foundation in our students, our goal is to provide a platform for future success in any field of study.

The Department of Liberal Studies offers an interdisciplinary undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Maritime Studies, as well as a Bachelor of Science University Studies degree in Maritime Public Policy and Communication. The Department of Marine Biology offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Marine Biology, Marine Fisheries, Marine Biology-License Option and Master of Science and Doctoral degrees in Marine Biology. Teaching and research facilities in Galveston provide students and faculty with many hands-on education and research opportunities in the laboratory and field. Field courses are offered at several national and international locations.

Marine Engineering Technology provides an interdisciplinary education in marine propulsion, electrical power, electronics and maritime-related engineering. The curriculum is a blend of marine power systems and applied mechanical engineering programs in the marine industry.

The mission of the Department of Maritime Transportation is to provide maritime transportation students with a solid academic foundation on which to build their careers. Cutting-edge maritime training is combined with this academic foundation to produce USCG licensed officers for the United States maritime industry. Marine Transportation majors are required to enroll in the Corps of Cadets and to remain enrolled through the time of graduation.

The Department of Ocean Engineering offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Offshore and Coastal Systems Engineering (OCSE) and Ocean Engineering (OCEN), and Masters and Doctoral-level degrees in Ocean Engineering. Each of the undergraduate programs is ABET-accredited in Ocean Engineering and effectively synthesizes ocean engineering, civil engineering, and naval architecture to the design of ocean systems and structures. This Department was formed in 2015 though the combination of the existing Department of Maritime Systems Engineering in Galveston with the program of Ocean Engineering in College Station, each of which had been graduating students into this exciting field for 40 years.about the Department of Ocean Engineering
