Why did you become an academic advisor/academic coach/educational administrator?
I’ve always had a passion for working with students since my days teaching Vacation Bible School as a teen. When I transitioned from my first career in Sales to Higher Education, I was hired to recruit for a University. Eventually, I transitioned into the Advising role and absolutely loved working with student to assist them with reaching their academic goals. The joy I felt inside, when they reached their goal, surpassed that familiar feeling inside when I closed large contracts in my previous Sales career.  That’s when I knew, I was in the right field.

What is your favorite thing about the TAMUG experience?
The beautiful view of the bay! We get to wear the TX A&M brand of College Station and all of the affiliations that come with it, just with a better view!

What is your best advice for incoming students?
Find your Community on campus and get involved!  Choose two organizations on campus to join, one related to your major the other that you find interesting. Get active in the organizations, but manage your time well to prioritize your studies first. Remember… the education you are receiving is not only in the classroom!

What is your advising/coaching/leadership philosophy?
Despite what many say, College IS for everyone! There will come a time in your life that you may want to advance or learn a new skill, change or pursue a career that you always wanted to explore.  College will be there to meet you where you are and provide the tools needed to get you to your life goals.

What do you do when you are not advising/coaching/working?
Camping with my Scout Troop 426. As Scoutmaster, I enjoy developing boys into great young men!
