Michael Phillips comes to Texas A&M University at Galveston with 15 years of Fire and Life Safety Experience. He has worked with paid and volunteer fire departments as well as having served in the US Army where he earned numerous awards and decorations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Those awards include the Presidential Unit Citation, Army Commendation Award, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Combat Action Badge. In 2014, Michael received his Associates of Applied Science in Occupational Safety and Health Technologies from College of the Mainland. He currently holds Firefighter Master and Fire Investigator Master with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection is actively pursuing the Fire Inspector Master, Fire Instructor Level III Master, the Associate Safety Profession and Certified Safety Professional tests. In addition, he is a certified Emergency Medical Technician Basic through the Texas Department of Health.
Currently, Michael serves as Occupational Safety and Health Inspector III at TAMUG. He has a positive outlook and continually strives for excellence. Michael brings a vast knowledge base and a strong safety ethics to TAMUG.
