Computer Requirements    

As a result of the changing landscape in higher education, Texas A&M University at Galveston now requires students to have access to an appropriate computer to complement course instruction.

Minimum computer specifications are listed below. Most computers purchased in the past few years should meet the minimum standards.

The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically changed the landscape of higher education by increasing the use of technology in course instruction. Just as we require all our students to have specific textbooks and supplies in order to gain the highest quality educational experience, there is a need for all students to have an appropriate computer to ensure they are able to fully participate in course work.

You may use your existing device if it meets or exceeds the minimum requirements listed above. Most computers purchased in the past few years should meet the minimum standards. Some colleges/majors have specific requirements. Please ensure your device meets the requirements for your degree program.

The Galveston campus offers several locations for open computer lab use. Those can be found at https://www.tamug.edu/it/services/computing-printing-software/Computer_Labs_and_VDI.html  Computer labs are open 8:00AM till 10:00PM every day. In addition students may check out laptops from the Library for 4-hour use anywhere on campus. Please go to the service desk in Jack K. Williams Library to checkout laptops.
