Galveston Get It For Me Service

Get It For Me" (GIFM), a streamlined document delivery service for TAMUG faculty, staff, and students. GIFM allows you to request materials not available in our catalog and have them delivered free of charge, with faster response times and expanded access to libraries nationwide and internationally. To get started, register with your NetID and use the easy-to-navigate platform to submit requests.

Harness the power of open copyright to lower student costs for course materials. This workshop will walk you through the 6 creative commons licenses, as well as openly licensed resources to and use for your course. This session is for course instructors, instructional designers, and teaching assistants.

Description:

Identifying the right journal can be challenging, especially with an ever-increasing number of journals and publishing options. This workshop will present some approaches, tools, and tips to help you identify quality journal venues. These same approaches, tools, and tips will also help maximize your research impact and avoid “predatory journals.” This workshop is for anyone interested in journal publishing, especially graduate students, faculty, and staff. 

After attending this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Define the characteristics of quality journals.
  • Distinguish between legitimate, reputable journals and “predatory journals.”
  • Utilize various tools to identify and evaluate journals, as well as understand the limitations of such tools.
  • Make strategic decisions on publication venues by critically evaluating journals and appraising their potential influence on your academic career.
