What in your life drew you to your current field of study?
I have always been fascinated by the ability of humans to design and create new materials systems to make the world a better place. Understanding from the atomic level on up how to design systems and processes to meet a given goal has been one of the great enablers of society.
What do you hope your students gain from studying or working with you?
Too often, we hear about colleges and universities as being a waste of money and not providing their students with useful skills. I am proud to be part of a program that trains students in applied engineering. I hope that my students will quickly become productive members of the workforce and providing an excellent return on the investment of their time and money spent at TAMUG.
What are you passionate about in your personal life?
Curling - the Olympic sport with the brooms and ice. Not only is it a good way to get out of the Texas heat, the sport combines strategy, teamwork, physical activity, and camaraderie.
