Kicking Off Fall ‘22

TweetHowdy, Sea Aggies! Welcome to Fall 2022! The first week of this semester kicked off with TAMUG’S welcome back BBQ on Wednesday, August 23, and the semesterly Organizations Night on Thursday, August 24, both held on the second floor of the Aggie Special Events Center.
The start of this school year welcomed back over 2,000 students to campus and has seen a significant number of incoming students, as well as the growing revival and changes of several organizations across campus.
In a discussion with Nautilus, Mason Broussard, the president of the Residence Hall Association, was asked whether he saw a difference in the amount of signups and attendance at Org Night. “Absolutely,” he replied, “I feel like as COVID restrictions have lifted from the school, the higher number of population we have…I definitely feel like Org Night has had a higher amount of attendance.”
This past week, a lively Org Night was filled with clubs ready to expand and to welcome new members. Current members of the Residence Hall Association, SPROUT, European History club, Seaspray Literary Magazine, and various others said that they received considerable amounts of interest, and that they were confident they would be welcoming new members to their teams. Multiple students described their visit to Org Night as a “positive experience.”
When asked what advice he had for new students and growing student organizations, Kaleb Soule, president of the SPROUT organization, answered, “Work with as many other organizations as you possibly can. Because interdependence is really key. This is a community of communities here on campus. Everyone knows everyone here, with such a face-to-face student body. Put that hand out because all you’re doing is bringing something to the potluck.”
