Living Learning Communities

Learn Outside the Classroom!

Campus Living & Learning works with TAMUG Faculty and Staff to implement Learning Communities (LCs) and Living Learning Communities (LLCs) to give students enriching academic experiences outside of the classroom. LCs and LLCs are designed to aid students in meeting their collegiate goals while enforcing the idea of community and personal connections among peers, faculty, and staff.

Community Leaders

The Community Leader (CL) is an important member of the Campus Living & Learning staff.  They are generally an undergraduate peer leader who works with a group of 50-75 residents.  The Community Leader is supervised by the Housing Coordinators, and also report to Campus Living & Learning's Assistant Directors and Director.  For students living in Battalion housing, Company Commanders (COs) also serve as Community Leaders and work for Campus Living & Learning.

Working together, the Community Leaders support and carry out objectives, policies and procedures of Texas A&M University at Galveston, the Division of Student Affairs, and the Student Life Office. They are available for conflict mediation, help residents with transitioning and making connections to campus resources, and enjoy providing engaging programs for their residents to enjoy. Community Leaders staff the main office from 8AM - 2AM daily and are on-call after 2AM until the office re-opens next day.

Interested in becoming a Community Leader?  Formal CL Recruitment is held during the spring semester for the following academic year.  For any questions about the process to become a Community Leader, please contact your Housing Coordinator.
