Join Our Lab
Thank you for your interest in joining the Benthic Ecology Lab at Texas A&M University at Galveston. Embarking on a research journey in higher education is a significant commitment, requiring both academic dedication and personal growth. Unfortunately, it also requires financial support, and my ability to accept new members depends on available funding. However, if our research interests align and you are open to exploring independent funding opportunities, I am more than happy to support your application(s).
At the Benthic Ecology Lab, our focus is on advancing the understanding of benthic ecosystems and biodiversity, with a particular emphasis on how they are influenced by environmental and human factors. Our mission is not only to conduct innovative research but also to foster an inclusive and supportive environment where all lab members can grow intellectually and personally. We value diversity and encourage a culture of kindness, collaboration, curiosity, and clear communication.
As a member of our lab, you will be viewed as both a collaborator and a mentee, not merely a student or employee. Our goal is to help you achieve your aspirations in science and to equip you with the skills and experiences necessary for your future career. From the start, we will discuss your career goals and outline a plan to ensure that your time in the lab is productive and fulfilling. We aim to establish an environment where you can develop your research skills without sacrificing balance and well-being.
Are You a Good Fit?
We’re looking for lab members who are motivated, responsible, and prepared to work both independently and collaboratively. Ideal candidates demonstrate strong critical thinking, time management, and communication skills. While experience with benthic biodiversity and proficiency in data analysis are valuable assets, the essential qualities we seek are a willingness to learn, openness to diverse perspectives, and a genuine desire to be part of a team.
