Leave a Lasting Legacy on Campus

The Texas A&M University Galveston campus is of, for and by the sea. Our island campus is the perfect setting to study both the nature and business of the sea and adjacent coastline. By supporting the physical campus you ensure that we continue to grow and evolve to meet the physical and technological needs of our students. Your gift to the campus will ensure your legacy and pride continues to live on, and leaves a physical impact on the space our students love.

Purchase a Brick

Sea Aggie Walkway and William C. Hearn '63 Student Development Endowment Campaign

As the sea has influenced our campus since its inception so, too, has Mr. William C. “Bill” Hearn ’63 influenced the students, faculty and staff of Texas A&M University at Galveston over his more than thirty-three years of service.  The retirement of Bill Hearn in January of 2008 marked the end of an era that fostered unprecedented growth in all aspects of campus life from student affairs to facilities expansion to the largest enrollment ever.

His retirement ceremony included a demonstration by the Texas A&M Maritime Academy Corp. of Cadets Honor Guard, presentations by Former Students, the reading of Proclamations from local, state and federal officials and an official kickoff of the Sea Aggie Walkway and William C. Hearn '63 Student Development Endowment Campaign.

Proceeds from the current brick campaign, along with the proceeds from bricks and benches already purchased by Former Students, friends of TAMUG, current students, faculty and staff perpetuate the endowment.  The walkway and endowment serves as an enduring legacy of Bill’s countless contributions to the development of student leadership at TAMUG.  Your contributions to the endowment will serve as a permanent means of supporting the programs and leadership opportunities for students cultivated by Bill over his career. Bricks will be installed once both order form and payment are received.

Four-by-eight-inch bricks may be purchased for $100 per brick.  Take advantage of your corporate matching program to double, triple or quadruple the amount of your contribution to this endowment campaign.

Purchase a Bench

William C. Hearn '63 Student Development Endowment Campaign

Mr. William C. “Bill” Hearn ’63 was instrumental in the growth and development of Texas A&M University at Galveston. Over his more than thirty-three years of service to the campus, he established programs, mentored students and staff, and helped create the special environment of the Galveston Campus that continues today.  The retirement of Bill Hearn in January of 2008 marked the end of an era that fostered unprecedented growth in all aspects of campus life from student affairs to facilities expansion to the largest enrollment ever. Mr. Hearn is still an active presence on campus, and enjoys sharing stories and wisdom from his time here.

In recognition of his retirement, the Sea Aggie Walkway and William C. Hearn '63 Student Development Endowment Campaign was established on campus. The Sea Aggie Walkway features memorial and honorary bricks, purchased and inscribed by students, faculty, staff, family members, and friends of Texas A&M University at Galveston.

In addition to the bricks, a limited number of memorial and honorary benches are available for dedication around the Sea Aggie Walkway, located in the center of campus. These benches currently circle the Searcy Bracewell Clocktower, and will become a prime dedication location just steps from the Aggie Ring Statue. Current and future bench purchases are subject to being shifted (if deemed necessary to accommodate space) by Texas A&M University at Galveston.

Proceeds from the current endowment campaign, along with the proceeds from bricks and benches already purchased by Former Students, friends of TAMUG, current students, faculty and staff perpetuate the endowment. The walkway and dedicated benches serve as an enduring legacy of Bill’s countless contributions to the development of student leadership at TAMUG.  Your contributions to the endowment, via your brick or bench purchase, will serve as a permanent means of supporting the programs and leadership opportunities for students cultivated by Bill over his career. Benches will be installed once both order form and payment are received.

Sea Aggie Walkway Benches are composed of a cement and stone combination, ensuring their longevity in our salt-rich environment.  Benches may be purchased for $2,500 each, and include a plaque measuring 1.5" tall by 24" wide.  This plaque may be inscribed with a maximum of 2 lines, with 74 characters each. Take advantage of your corporate matching program to double, triple or quadruple the amount of your contribution to this endowment campaign.

Naming Opportunities

MAIN Academic Complex

Student enrollment at Texas A&M University Galveston Campus steadily increases each year. To best serve our students, we are continually working to create an environment worthy of an Aggie education. The new MAIN Academic Complex serves all degree programs offered on the Galveston campus. It is home to innovative chemistry,  physics and geographic information systems labs and modern classrooms designed around small collaborative learning groups. Additionally, it houses vital student services and the Siebel Learning Center.

Consider a naming opportunity in the new MAIN Academic Complex to continue to provide our students the tools they need to excel in our Academic Complex.

The Texas A&M Maritime Academy Hall

Texas A&M University at Galveston and the Texas A&M Foundation invite you to partner with us to support the 612-bed Maritime Academy Residence Hall. The new hall includes two residential wings that connect to a central commons area. The commons area is comprised of a mix of classrooms, study lounges, flexible social spaces, staff and midshipmen offices, a reception area, common laundry area, a convenience store and storage spaces.

The new midshipmen residence hall is part of the university’s efforts to provide a positive living-learning opportunity for students.

Your gift will have a lasting impact on campus and to our students as they go on to support the ever-evolving needs of our region, our state, our nation and the world.

Through various naming opportunities identified and included in this brochure, former students, corporations, families, classes and friends can include their names or memorialize a loved one as a permanent part of the MAIN Academic Complex or the Texas A&M Maritime Academy Hall by funding a lobby, laboratory, classroom space, student gathering area, office suite or rooftop terrace.

Once you have made the decision to graciously commit to one of the naming opportunities listed in this brochure, your generosity will be recognized in a tasteful architectural display that pays tribute to your commitment to Texas A&M University.
