Why Compliance Matters to Me:
College life presents many choices and challenges. It is your responsibility to be aware of how your choices and actions may affect yourself and others around you. Compliance is a willingness to follow a prescribed course of action, such as laws and regulations. Compliance is not about policing people’s behavior; it is about constantly striving to understand our many and varied obligations and follow them.
Student Compliance Resources and Responsibilities:
The following list is designed to familiarize you with some of the many issues that affect student life:
- Acquaint yourself with the Texas A&M University at Galveston Student Rules and follow them.
- Practice the Aggie Honor Code.
- Report sexually offensive, discriminatory, and unwelcome behaviors immediately
- Notify the University of your needs related to Disabilities.
- Understand the dangers of relationship and sexual abuse/violence and how to request assistance.
- Familiarized yourself with campus safety and emergency procedures.
- Maintain awareness of crime risks around campus by reviewing TAMUG Annual Security Report (Clery Act).
- Reach out for assistance when the stresses of student life become too great.
- Be knowledgeable of resources and services available to students in need of assistance.
- Plan organization and course related travel in accordance with the student travel standard administrative procedure.
- Understand how FERPA applies to the protection and handling of educational records.
- Report suspected instances of risk, fraud, and misconduct.
- Learn how to obtain and maintain your student financial aid.
- Know the requirements for participating in study abroad program.
- Demonstrate academic integrity through fair use of the intellectual property of others.
