Program Requirements
The Galveston Honors Program is the Department level designated Honors Program offered at
Texas A&M University at Galveston Campus.
The Galveston Honors distinction requires completion of substantial coursework and is separate from “Latin Honors” designated as:
- Cum Laude: 3.50 - 3.69 GPA
- Magna Cum Laude: 3.70 - 3.89 GPA
- Summa Cum Laude: 3.90 - 4.00 GPA
Students can earn the “Galveston Honors” designation on their transcripts upon graduation by completing the following:
- Maintaining 3.5 cumulative TAMU GPA
- A minimum of 18 credit hours of Honors coursework
- Honors credit hours must be made comprised of
- 3 one credit Honors seminars
- No more than 6 credit hours from the Texas Common Core Curriculum coursework
- At least 9 credit hours taken from Major or Minor coursework
- Students meet with the Honors Advisor every semester to ensure progress toward designation
- Honors credit hours must be made comprised of
All Honors students are required to attend monthly meetings and complete 10 community service hours every semester
